ɪ. ʟᴀᴛᴇ ᴀᴛ ɴɪɢʜᴛ

[ it's a little after one in the morning when rei is back on the streets. coming from the direction of the hospital, her shoulders are hung low, her head is cast downwards, and her steps are slow. it's as if she's just simply dragging herself along. perhaps it wouldn't be anything to be concerned about. after all, maybe it was just a long night in the dungeon. ]

[ ... maybe that would have been the case if she wasn't covered in dried blood. ]

[ her shirt and skirt are ruined with a dark crimson colour and there's a very unfortunate small blood splatter across her face (cover your mouth when you cough, terry...). whether or not the blood bothers her, it's not like she can do much about it right now. she just continues to walk down the street, almost as if in some sort of trance. she doesn't pay attention to where she's heading and it's honestly more than likely that any of the following would happen: ]

[ a: she walks straight into a pole. ]
[ b: she walks straight into a person (you). ]
[ c: she walks right into the forest because she's not paying attention and i guess i'll have a bear eat her or something. ]

ɪɪ. ᴇᴀʀʟʏ ɪɴ ᴛʜᴇ ᴍᴏʀɴɪɴɢ

[ the next morning, rei isn't doing much better. she has thrown out her clothes so she's back to wearing her original school uniform, but she has thrown on a black and tattered cape over herself, though. hm. well, whatever she's happy with. ]

[ she's still in a trance, though, so the following will happen again: ]

[ a: she walks into a person (you) (again).
[ b: she walks right into a food stand and well, i guess there goes 'em apples and oranges all over the floor. she's already getting yelled at so help. ]
[ c: courtesy of card, all 'em apples and oranges actually go into rei's face later on in the day. a kind npc has given her an orange but she's so tired and not really paying attention that she just bites down onto it like an apple and i guess she's eating the skin of the orange and getting orange juice everywhere. thanks, card. ]
[ d: she actually trips and falls flat on her face because the owner of the cape was actually 30cm taller than her so, of course, it's much longer on her. she falls quite heavily onto the floor and well, everything sucks. this sucks. life sucks!! ]

ɪɪɪ. ᴛɪʟʟ ᴛʜᴇ ᴇɴᴅ ᴏꜰ ᴊᴜʟʏ

[ over the course of the next week or so, rei hovers near the entrance of the dungeon but she doesn't actually go in. she looks extremely uneasy and just hovers around. when she spots someone trying to go through the front entrance, she walks on over and grabs them by their sleeve or end of their shirt. ]

... please don't go in.

[ it's a small and sad plead. ]

[ He loosens the string, untying it into its most basic form and moves his legs so that Rei can sit on the bed next to him. ]

[ with the open invitation, she sits down on the bed. she places the bags on the end of the bed and moves over closer towards terry to try and take the string. ]

[ I don't want to write out the entire thing, so let's pretend Terry is saying the same stuff from this while teaching Rei. ]

It's just making the same shapes over and over again until one of us messes up!

[ rei carefully following along and lmfao this is giving me elementary/middle school flashbacks when i did it. she is trying her best to keep the game going, though she's taking her time and going slowly at it. she doesn't want to mess up! :T ]

This is fun! It's almost like origami. You just keep making shapes and it turns out like something else!

Yeah! Something like that. It's pretty endless too, so it's a good time sink.

[ Well, it's easy to entertain Terry, so stuff like this is perfect for him. He patiently waits for Rei when it's her turn and just responds to making another shape like usual. ]

Rei, I have a favor to ask... though you're always welcome to refuse.

[ she'll continue to play along with terry, making awkward and stiff hand movements as she tries to get used to the game. ]

What is it?

[ There's always a learning curve, Rei. Terry believes in you... He's patient for her, since she's here, playing with him. He'll do anything for Rei......... ]

If you can, could you come back at midnight? When that weird phase shifting happens. [ That's what he's calling it now. A Phase Shift. ] I want to see if any healing spells would help me get better faster.

[ You know, since he's no longer in a fatal condition.

... I guess this doubles as a pseudo mod question too. ]

[ why would rei ever deny this request, terry. she would do anything for t-chan and healing is just her Thing. also, it can probably speed things up, yes, it just can't fix giant injuries like terry's right away, laughs. ]

If you're ever hurt, I can always heal you. Just let me know and I'll patch you up. That way, you don't have to go to the hospital unless you're really hurt!

[ He didn't want to open any trauma or anything, since Rei's healing didn't seem to work on him as he died!! He's weirdly considerate about some things... though speeding things up will be a godsend. Thanks ichi :3c ]

[ sure, the healing didn't work while terry was dying but she can still try. she can handle the smaller things, at least until she gets stronger healing magic and can heal bigger injuries. ]

Oh! I got you these, by the way!

[ hold on, string game, she's excited to show what she brought so she's going to leave terry hanging as she goes through the bags and pulls out everything. the first is a small vase of flowers. it's nothing special at all, especially since she managed to fit in a bag, but they add a bit of colour to the boring hospital room. the second is an assortment of snacks, mostly things that he could open up later and eat since she didn't know if he would want to eat something right away and then the food might get cold. the last is a picture book of alice in wonderland. of course, since it's a children's book, the story is extremely condensed and easy to read. ]

[ Terry looks in surprise as she gets out all those things. He didn't expect them, and having flowers in here would definitely be a nice change of pace for the bland room. I mean, there are cats too, but they're tucked into the far corner that it's hard to notice them... especially when they'd usually be lounging around Terry's area. :'( Feels bad, man.

He puts the small vase full of flowers on top of the bedside drawers and opens one of the drawers to put the snacks in. It's good that they can be eaten later, because he's on a certain diet right now due to the injury. Then Terry looks over at the picture book. Huh. "Alice in Wonderland"... it's been a while since he heard about this story.

He scoots a little more to the side to the point that he can make room for Rei on the bed and that he's comfortable enough and not falling off. ]

Here. Sit a little closer. Do you like these kinds of stories?

[ maybe those cats are also upset that you went ahead and died on them, terry. have you ever thought about that??? ]

[ rei moves over into the open space and sits right next to terry. now they're nice and comfy next to each other. ]

Mmhm. I used to read these a lot. Picture books were always my favourite! I like stories with princesses and princes more but I wasn't sure if you'd like them.

[ since they're girly or whatever so she just settled for something more neutral. alice in wonderland has a special meaning to her and all (waves to entire first dungeon of pq) ]

[ It's not like he's just saying that--he really doesn't mind stories with princes and princesses. It's just that he can't ever imagine being on either side that he can't relate, but stories are still nice regardless. ]

Mmhm, it's one of my favourites. I had a stuffed rabbit like the one in the story. The nurses made him clothes so he was really cute. He was one of my prized possessions.

[ He would if the mom cat didn't want to bite his arm off from getting too close........... ]

[ Maybe a nice crow will drop it on Rei's head one day just like what they did with his charger cord. He can only hope that'll be the case anyway. ]

[ she places her hands near her neck, pinching her index fingers and thumbs together to imitate holding a bow tie. ]

He was super cute! If I had him, I would let you borrow him. He could keep you company.

[ He already thinks he hallucinated Mae in his room because she was a talking cat.... have mercy....... ]

If he had a monocle, he'd totally be like the rabbit from wonderland, wouldn't he?

[ Rei is so nice... even considering leaving her favorite doll with him. He'd always prefer a real person, but the act of sharing your favorite thing is always going to be something that touches his (nonexistent) heart. ]

Maybe he'd be able to tell me where Alice is too.

[ LMAO poor terry. he just can't catch a break. ]

Mmhm! I'm sure that he could have!

[ she'd have some mixed feelings about getting it back since it's stitched with niko's name on it and it'd remind of her some of the worse moments in her life, but she'd absolutely let terry borrow it. it helped her feel a little less lonely so if he's lonely, he needs it more!! ]

Did the doctors say how long you'd have to be here?

[ He's already borrowing Zen's cape from Rei... he honestly can't ask for more. :'( Also, Rei should totally stitch a patch over it and write her "Rei" name instead. ]
