[ You know what? Now's a good a time for this as any. When the Attendants send the call out to everybody on 9/4, Kido takes advantage of everybody being together to give them the address to the house she, Terry, and Rei are staying at, and asks them to meet there on 9/8 at noon if they're able to make it.

The original point of a meeting was to recruit for a gang, but with shit going down and people disappearing and personalities splitting off, it's turned into Kido needing to reach out to anybody who's a Persona user and consolidate everything that they know about everything. Personas. Shadows. The town itself. Anything.

If you're directionally challenged, it'll be easy to spot the house on Sunday afternoon because it's the only house on the block with two dozen crows perched on every inch of roof and telephone line there is around the house, and a five meter wide spider crab hanging around on the front yard, its front pincers bound so it can't snap at anybody, but it still scuttles around irately. ]

Sorry about the lack of furniture... Take a seat where you can find space, either on the couch or the floor. There's rice, miso soup, and gyudon in the kitchen if you're hungry; go ahead and help yourselves. We've got lots to talk about today.

[ rei's a little antsy talking about this. she fidgets a little bit in her seat, but perhaps she's just uncomfortable from sitting in one spot for too long. ]

Umm, I was told that Shadows are parts that you deny and don't want to admit, so they take shape and then you have to face them...

[ Oh. It would make sense that Rei would know too, since the Attendants did, and she already knew about Personas beforehand. ]

Do you know what happens if you dont face them?

[ Though he kinda regrets asking when he finally understands that Rei doesn't look all that comfortable. ]

[ she moves a little more in her seat before just settling to play with the hem of her skirt. ]

They turn into these... big monsters. And they attack you.

[ ...

Terry pets her head. Well, yeah. Sasuke's Shadow was humongous and it certainly did attack him... ]

You don't have to answer if it makes you uncomfortable, Rei.

[ the head pets are always comforting and she looks up at him before shaking her head. ]

I-It's okay. It's important and everyone should know so I-I'll be strong.

[ she takes a deep breath, trying to steady herself. she doesn't want to remember that moment, but she has to because they're talking about shadows and she knows things that might help... ]

... um, after you beat the monster, they go back to looking like normal people-Shadows but if you don't accept them again then they... disappear.

You mean... the person themselves will disappear? Not just the Shadows?

[ Despite having seen Shadow Tatsumi, he was never involved in the fighting, nor did he get to know about the aftermath. ]

Umm, the person stays but the Shadow disappears...

[ she starts to fidget even more with her skirt as if it's the most interesting thing in the world right now, tracing the stemline and sometimes balling up parts in her hands. suddenly, she wishes that she had zen's cape right now to wrap herself in. ]

... but-- the person might act like the Shadow after.

[ Well-- okay, that's not what he expected to hear. It's pretty alarming too, so Terry gets up from his seat quietly and goes to Rei's room for a second and comes out with Zen's cape, puts that over Rei's shoulders, and sits back down. He feels a little better and the cape might comfort her. Good things. Good things... ]

So the host absorbs the Shadow... is what you're saying?

[ as terry places the cape over her, she lets out a small "thank you" and pulls it closer around her. she never really had to be the one to do the talking. zen always handled that so she's struggling. ]

I think so... because their eyes will change to yellow for a bit.

[ she remembers when she snapped and apparently, her eyes changed. everyone was alarmed by that and she's suddenly ashamed to think about that. ]

The host will know that they're acting like the Shadow, but can't help it sometimes...

I see...

[ Hm. ]

So it's kinda like, if it gets bad to the point where your Shadow manifests, and then even after you don't accept it, the Shadow will go to the host and try to take over them? Is that how it is?

[ God, that sounds awful. It's like everything Terry hates in one package deal. ]

M-Mmhm.

[ she nods, pulling the cape closer and completely over her until only her head is visible. she still fidgets in place now and then but it's not as bad. ]

... but it stops, I think. If you're able to change after, it goes away.

[ since, well, her shadow came back to her but she hasn't been taken over. maybe it's because she was able to overcome the original issues that the shadow was about so it didn't manifest within her again or maybe because she just left limbo before it came out once more... who knows. ]

So it's like you're on a time limit before it erases everything you are and replaces you...

[ That's... a scary thought. Maybe if his former faction mates were here, they'd forcefully employ that method onto him so that he could act like his original a lot easier in a smoother process.

[ but she sounds unsure. this entire thing is just based off her own experiences and what little she heard from the p3/4 teams. she's certainly not as knowledgable as the attendants. ]

Do you know if the same goes for the other Shadows in the dungeon? Like the crows from the school, or the wolves in this one?

Umm, I'm not sure... they said that Shadows are human emotions but I didn't get to hear too much.

Shadows are human emotions, but the mean ones? But I guess Personas aren't wholly good, either. Vassago's sort of... difficult, sometimes.

But I was asking because we weren't supposed to kill Sasuke's Shadow. If we kill those wolves like the attendants ask for, no actual person would get hurt in the process, would they?

Umm, I don't think anyone will get hurt. Vice Leader's team talked about getting rid of the Shadows and we beat a lot of Shadows and no one ever got hurt.

I think human Shadows are different because they're from one person while the other monster Shadows are from... umm, more than one person?

[ Vice Leader seems like the sort of person who's oblivious to hurting people, but Kido will try to cut him some slack, if only in front of Rei. ]

So when we kill monsters Shadows, the worst that can happen is hurting a little bit of a whole bunch of people, spreading out the damage.

[ Still damaging people, but more akin to poking them lightly on the side than stabbing them through the heart. That's... less worrying, she thinks. ]

Sorry, neechan, I don't know that much about monster Shadows.

No, that's alright. We've been dealing with them for over two months now and I still don't know much about them, so I wouldn't expect you to be an expert on them.

[ It would be nice, though, to have actual experts here to take charge and tell them what to do, rather than the floundering around they're all doing. ]

I'm sure we'll get to the bottom of it, though. The school dungeon was pretty scary when it first showed up, but now it's easy. I bet this one and all the others will be the same.

[ This dungeon's just kicking everybody's asses bUT SOMEDAY IT'LL GET EASIER the learning curve is just really steep at the moment for whatever reason ]

Mmhm, I'm sure as well!

[ it'd just be like the dungeons back in the school. they were hard at first but then they got easier. they went back plenty of times to past dungeons to gather materials and that was practically a walk in the park. ]

Ananke has been getting really good at healing so I can help out a lot. I'll make sure to heal you and everyone else in the dungeon!

Yeah, it's really helpful having you along, Rei. Nekogami can heal somewhat, but it feels like it's doing less and less.

[ When I was playing P3P one dia would heal me more than half health and I went wow!!! but then you eventually get enough hp that it does barely anything haha that's where Kido is now ]

None of us have to worry with you around, right?

Are you planning on going back to the new dungeon sometime soon? Take me with you if you go!

[ I'm going to do nothing but upgrade Kido's stats for the rest of the game, and if the universe wants her to be useful then it'll have to give her skills through the rng ]

Yeah, I'll definitely be going back during the week. I've been able to reach the forest where Sasuke is, and then all that's left is getting that bear to move. One try a night is kind of annoying, but I bet we could figure it out together.

[ lmao kido can be powerful enough to punch things but that's about it. nekogami can't do anything else. ]

Maybe we just need to feed it? We can give it some of your gyudon since bears like meat.
