I. Hell On Wheels

[In the rural town of Hirajiro where most of the elementary school kids there don't have electronics to help entertain them, they all like to play a certain game. Roller Hockey. It's simple enough and doesn't follow any specific rules of regular hockey. After all, it's supposed to be for fun. A team of usually three or four would try to control the ball into the opposite team's line of chalk using nothing more than their parent's rake. The team with the most racked up points would win the game and have bragging rights for a while until the next match.

What was once a fun little game for kids quickly goes away once the Demon of Roller Hockey first shows his face.

One loss, then two, then three. His cold, determined expression scares the other kids of the opposing team. He looks down at them with a gaze filled with loud threats.

You may be enjoying your own time around town when a bunch of young kids roll up to you. Tears in their eyes, they cling onto your shirt and cry about a monster that is going to eat their souls! Whether you wish to check it out due to genuine concern or are dragged there to possibly be sacrificed in their places, you will eventually come across the sight of an teenager with spiky orange hair. He leans proudly against the rake, surrounded by other kids dressed in yellow as they celebrate another win. He raises his eyebrow at you, a silent asking if you're going to challenge him or not.

Or perhaps that isn't more your speed. Maybe you want to place bets on who will win? There is a young girl who has a lemonade stand and part-time betting booth set up. Feel free to give however much you want! She's just happy that she gets her own money out of this. Nothing like Tooth Fairy money which is always garbage.]

II. Stuffed-lock Holmes

[It's a regular day in the town of Hirajiro. Well, at least that is what it appears to be to the general populace. But in the dead of night, a phantom thief has been wrecking havoc among those who prefer company of the more...plushie variety. Those who own stuffed toys would find that their faithful furry companions have gone totally missing! One of the victims is one Yuko Hinoka, a simple second year in the Light Music Club. Her along with the group can be seen chatting intensely in front of a store, whispering and gossiping about just who is behind all of this.

And then Yuko Hinoka takes notice of you. She sees that there's something special about you that definitely isn't related to the fact that you're an outsider to the town. Oh no, no, no. Not at all. Where'd you get that idea? She sees that you have the potential to solve the case! So, she approaches you with a determined look in her eyes and practically order you to help her solve the case.

If you deny, she will quickly pout before saying she understands. But if you accept...

Yuko will lead you to her house where one other person is investigating. A spiky haired boy with headphones, Neku Sakuraba. She tells you that you should partner up with him since he's investigating the case too. He owes her. Neku can be seen crouched, looking in the bushes on the side of her house. It seems he just may have found something. Looks like things are off to a good start.]

Hey. Reach into the bush and grab that paper for me, will you?

III. Humongous Hamburger Hurry Challenge

[Every few months, a simple restaurant in Hirajiro hosts a competition where anyone can apply but most never win. It is called the Humongous Hamburger Hurry Challenge hosted by the owner named Kai. He is a hearty old man with an one thousand watt smile. He quite enjoys putting this challenge on.

The rules are simple. A team of two is given ten minutes to finish the entirety of a large hamburger. If they do, they will not have to pay for it and can even get a free desert as well! But if they fail, they have to pay for the entire dish. Anyone doing the challenge should be quite worried about losing due to how expensive it is but there are some who are not deterred from it. Right at the very moment, there is a simple line already forming at the door for sign ups. Off to the side is Neku, staring intensely at the poster that is advertising it. His stomach growls loudly as if to push him forward into participating.

Fine, fine. He had been hungry anyways. But the thing is that he needs a partner to be allowed.

He looks around for a bit before his eyes land on you.]

Hey.

[He points to you specifically.]

If you want a free full course meal, you're about to get one. The challenge looks like it could be fun.

[Please humor him with this challenge. He is just a hungry homeless boy.]

IV. The Struggles of Part-Time

Move it, move it, move it!

[A voice breaks through the peace of the buzzing afternoon cicadas. Barreling through the streets on a bike is delivery boy who doesn't seem to be having the easiest time in the world. Is he controlling the bike or is the bike controlling him? Neku thought this was going to be an easy job. Just deliver food from here to there and he would get paid for it. He really had begun getting tired of sleeping on the streets with cats. He wanted to sleep on an actual bed for once. And eat warm food without having to practically beg for it!

Taking food to one place and then coming back seemed so simple. But things quickly became difficult for him when the brakes on the bike the restaurant gave him finally snapped. At the speed of running horses, Neku is forced to ride this out. He does his best to try to make sure no one is run over by him. His shouting at least seems to be working for a while. He sees you and is quick to warn you too. He's coming in hot. Too hot!]

Watch out!

[Neku forces the bike out of your way before he runs right into a traffic cone. Like an upset bull, the bike practically bucks him off when he hits the cone. He and the food he is supposed to deliver is sent flying into the air and into the bushes. Those curious enough to check would see that the bowl had landed perfectly on top of his head.]

Good news is your order is here.

[He groans, wiping away the broth from his eyes.]

Bad news is that I am so fired for this.

[ Kido is personally invested in this case, not because she's some wannabe detective or has a particularly strong sense of justice, but because she's found herself a victim of the phantom thief as well. Like she was telling Yuko when the other girl flagged her down, four of her stuffed animals have gone missing out of her room, and she's pretty sure the fifth one would have been stolen too if it weren't five feet tall and impossible to fit through the open window of her bedroom.

Whoever steals precious toys like these are unforgivable, and with Kido's rage and the help of whoever her partner is, she's sure they can get to the bottom of this.

But her confidence sort of falters a little when she sees who her partner's supposed to be, although she can't exactly say anything against him if he's already found a clue while she's got no idea where to start. ]

What? Why can't you grab it?

[ Kido complains, but she crouches down and sticks her hand into the bush anyways, feeling around for that piece of paper to pull out. She can at least do this much, since she has long sleeves and Neku has none. ]

Better not be some fanfic Terrence threw out... ]

[ Kido pulls her arm out of the bushes and shakes off a couple of loose leafs before holding it out so both she and Neku can see it at the same time. ]

"Bear-y Good"... Ugh.

[ They're dealing with somebody who likes puns and Kido doesn't look all that enthused at all, turning the card around to see if there's any more to it. ]

You'd think the thief would leave this on a window sill or something, instead of in a bush. Here, you hold onto this.

[ She holds the card out to Neku to take, since he's the chief detective. And also because it's slightly covered in dirt. ]

Looks like a trap, if you ask me. As long as you stick close to me, I can make it so nobody can see or hear us. We can go to the shop and look around, all without the perpetrator realizing we're there, if they're lying in wait.

[No need to tell Sasuke twice - the instant he hears something coming his way, he's moving to make sure he's out of it - which means he gets to watch as Neku crashes spectacularly in front of the person who apparently ordered the food in the first place.

Yikes.

He's just gonna... watch how this plays out with Neku and the customer, although once Neku's done, he'll find a boy holding out a handkerchief to him. It's not much, but it's... probably better than nothing?

[You did it, Neku! You did a Polite!]

...You can keep it.

[It is, predictably, kind of a mess. It'll be easier for him to just get another one instead.]

You alright after all... that?

[The crash, and then the customer interaction afterwards, and so on.]
