1/11 training and breakfast

[ As last minute prep for the dungeon, everybody has been called to get together for a training session during midnight at Lockdown, with promise of a light breakfast at the clubhouse afterwards and the suggestion that people take it easy during the day before they split up into their respective teams and head to the castle and the mountains.

Training is largely done in the school shrine, on the second floor where there's wide empty space without the maze to account for, where you can practice tactics together, or take on the Minato challenge where he has Messiah blast you apart in half a second and then immediately heals you and asks if you want to go again.

Breakfast at the clubhouse is split between western and traditional styles, whether you crave fluffy pancakes, or are more of a miso soup and grilled fish on rice sort of person. If you want anything in particular for lunch, Kido is on lunch duty and promises to make whatever you want, so long as you go out to the store and bring the ingredients back.

Thanks to everybody's efforts so far during the month, whether it's interacting with the townspeople or talking with the mayor or donating gemstones to the mountain shrine, the effects can already be seen around town, with the townspeople less wary of the Persona users, allowing them to purchase what they want in the stores if they want to have their own supplies to take into the dungeon later.

Now go out there and get along and learn to work together or is2g ]

...That's one way to put it, I suppose.

[Host, huh.]

Anyway, I'll keep trying. Someone's got to do it.

[Even if Jiro is a butt!!]

[ Like a host. ]

How's the progress looking? Think they'll be able to shoot a gun without blowing out their own brains by tonight?

I'm not worried about any of them shooting themselves in the head.

[It's shooting others that's the problem.]

Everybody's good, then, right? Safety's important, so now they know how not to hurt themselves~

[ Shooting others never even crossed her mind, but that's the follow-up. ]

[A small sigh.]

Not if they accidentally shoot each other instead. That's the real danger.

Mm... What if you put Kido and Minato and me up front? Then it doesn't matter if we get shot!

[ That's not fixing the problem!! But it does sort of mitigate it somewhat. ]

They shouldn't be hitting allies in the first place!

Sometimes it's tough, especially when people have to keep moving and some of them fight in close quarters. Improving their aim is your job, Rio-sensei~

[ GOOD LUCK

All this is something they all should have been practicing before this training session, honestly. Maybe Rio should focus her efforts on just Rio, who has deadly projectiles, instead of the others. ]

I'm a teacher, not a god. I can't create miracles like that.

[personal profile] parhellia 2020-01-26 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
Hehe, you're so faithless, Rio! How's anybody supposed to improve if their teacher's given up on them from the start?

[ Just improve their aim!!! It doesn't have to be perfect. ]

Normally I'd want them to practice for longer before I actually handed them a real gun with live ammunition to fire. We're already speeding things up as it is.

[personal profile] parhellia 2020-01-27 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
Hm~ It's no good rushing things. Do you think it's worth trying to use guns in this dungeon? Versus just pew pew!ing at the Kotengu when you get to him?

[ If people are going to shoot each other, Ala would nix the idea for now, and bring it back later when they aren't pressed for time. ]
toybombs: ([Sigh] now that I would)

[personal profile] toybombs 2020-01-29 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
Admittedly, it wasn't entirely just lessons.

Part of it was a deterrent.
parhellia: (pic#13735374)

[personal profile] parhellia 2020-01-29 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
A deterrent for what?

[ Like... teaching people not to team kill? It shouldn't be something that needs to be taught. (and yet...) ]
toybombs: ([Look] God)

[personal profile] toybombs 2020-01-29 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Not everyone thinks about how weighty wielding a weapon is until you go through all of the safety steps.

[She nods in Rei's direction in particular.]
parhellia: (pic#13735362)

[personal profile] parhellia 2020-01-29 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Ohh, that sort of deterrent.

[ For people who think it's so easy to just pick up a gun and shoot it, but there's so many more steps involved and all the responsibility that people don't think about, that's easier to experience and learn rather than being told.

It's an offer to teach anybody interested, but in the end, only those who are serious about it will stick it out, and it'll be their own decision. ]
toybombs: ([Look] get burned)

[personal profile] toybombs 2020-01-30 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
That sort of deterrent. It's good to make sure everyone understands the reality of the situation.

[ Seven months in!! But it's true. This isn't a game, when most of their experiences with fighting are probably from videogames and movies. ]

Mmhm, there's times to be serious, when fooling around can get you and everybody else killed. Minato's sorta doing that too, "killing" people like it's nothing, to show how easy it would be. And the Daitengu's gotta be tougher than him, right?
toybombs: ([Down] garbage dump)

[personal profile] toybombs 2020-01-30 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
[It took her that long to give a shit...]

If he were easier, we could just rely on him and Souji to win for us.
parhellia: (pic#13735375)

[personal profile] parhellia 2020-01-30 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
Would you, though? Send just Minato and Souji to fight the Daitengu while the rest of you sit on your hands?

[ It could have happened, the two Attendants going to the shrine dungeon and the rest of them going to the castle. The numbers would have worked out. ]

If you send them, you'd be safe, right? You wouldn't have to risk your own life. You could just sit back and let them do everything; they're capable.

[personal profile] toybombs 2020-01-30 06:06 am (UTC)(link)
You realize that would be a totally viable strategy in most other contexts, right?

[Like... seriously.]

Battles aren't about feelings, they're about doing what it takes to win. But with our current numbers and scenario, it's wiser to split our forces as evenly as possible to make sure we have people who can gather information without falling to whatever's waiting for us.
parhellia: (pic#13735355)

[personal profile] parhellia 2020-01-30 06:11 am (UTC)(link)
Hehe~ It's a totally viable strategy for this context too, probably!

[ Minato the heavy hitter, and Souji being the one who'd comb through everything and make sure they don't miss any information. ]

What about when we fight the Kotengu? How should we do that? You can't summon either, so it'll be tough... I sorta wish Zashiki Warashi could do the same as me.
toybombs: ([Sigh] And your veins)

[personal profile] toybombs 2020-02-02 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
I just said we need information. Sending only Souji and Minato means we have to trust them at their words. It's better if we can get more people to hear it so nothing gets missed due to anyone's biases.

As for the Kotengu, if it's one battle, we can go in as a group and be ready to split into smaller ones if needed. It depends on if we find out anything from this dungeon that we'll need to keep in mind for dealing with him.
